National Mobilization to Stop Line 3: March 8th to 14th!

XRPDX, XR US, and other climate activists and Water Protectors are answering the call of and acting in solidarity with Indigenous leaders of Giniw Collective and Camp Migizi to help end Line 3, a fossil fuel pipeline from Alberta to Lake Superior being built by the Canadian company Enbridge.

The construction of this pipeline is currently being rushed through the heart of Northern Minnesota, on its last leg as it passes through Anishinaabe lands, including sacred wild rice beds, as well as the headwaters of the Mississippi River and hundreds of other bodies of water. If completed, it will be moving the carbon equivalent of 50 coal fired plants every single day.

There is a car caravan from Portland headed to Stop Line 3 actions in the first week of March. A number of frontline folks (youth, Latinx, and Indigenous) need financial support in order to make this journey.

A scholarship fund has been created on GoFundMe to help these people prepare for the trip: https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-pdx-activists-travel-to-stop-line-3.

If you’re interested in joining us as we head to Minnesota, follow the steps in this link: https://howilovetheearth.github.io/stopline3_mobilize and contact PNWStopL3@protonmail.com. And, whether you can go or not, free trainings are being offered this week in preparation for next month (see the schedule here).

By the way, XR US just raised over $11,000 for Giniw Collective and Camp Migizi who we will be working with in next month’s actions. Thank you so much to everyone who gave their support!

Let’s do this!
