After a year and a half of hard work, the National Restructure Working Group has released a proposed draft for a new national US structure and is now soliciting chapter feedback. The new structure, lovingly called the “bicycle” has “wheels” of support for both national action coordination as well as chapter operational support.
Chapters provided feedback on a whole host of values which were woven into the distributed power structure to frame and inform XR US’s future work. These values include:
- anti-oppression and inclusionary practices,
- accountability and feedback loops,
- transparency,
- commitments to coalitions and solidarity,
- shared power,
- regenerative culture,
- continual improvement, and
- systems change.
Once chapters provide feedback and revisions are made, there will be members’ assemblies and a facilitated process towards ratification, along with chapter nominations for national working groups. There is excitement that this revised structure comes just in time as we launch national actions building towards Glasgow (COP26) and global rebellion against climate chaos.
