Extinction Rebellion has been organizing to shut down Zenith since 2019. Recently this article in KOIN quoted Zenith VP of US Operations West Grady Reamer saying “Zenith Energy is a leader in the growth of renewable diesel, a product that emits up to 80% less carbon than traditional fossil fuels.” Climate activists have been counting their train cars for months. The fact that Zenith claims to be a sustainability leader by transitioning to biofuels when you can clearly see the endless rows of crude oil tanks at their facility is not only laughable, but should be criminal.
We want to make sure Zenith doesn’t dominate the narrative because we can’t count on them to tell the truth. Climate Activists, it’s time to ramp up the pressure!
Tips & best practices for writing and submitting your Letter to the Editor (LTE):
- If possible, find an article from the newspaper on the same subject that you can refer to – in this case: Climate Change, Zenith, Fossil Fuels, Environment, and Science should all work.
- Make sure to not exceed the maximum word count, typically 150-250. You will need to include your full name, address, and a contact phone number.
- Read through previously printed letters to get an idea of their style of letter.
- Follow up by phone or email after submitting.
Good luck! If you get an LTE published, please send it to info@xrpdx.org for possible publication on our blog!
