Stop the Thacker Pass Lithium Mine!

Lithium mining at Thacker Pass threatens Native communities and homelands. You can help! Like so many Native communities on the frontlines of environmental racism, those near Thacker Pass have been railroaded in the name of Big Extraction. As the largest lithium deposit in the U.S., Lithium Americas (a Canadian company) and possibly other mining corporations are coming for it fast.

Despite resistance led by local tribes, because Thacker Pass, or Peehee mm’huh, is sacred land to the Northern Paiute and Western Shoshone, and critical wildlife habitat including the Golden Eagle, the government has given the go-ahead to rip this beautiful place apart. Take action: Tell U.S. Department of the Interior Secretary Deb Haaland to revoke the permits for the Thacker Pass lithium mine by clicking the link in pink below. Also please call House Natural Resources Committee Chair Raúl Grijalva, (202) 225-2435, to investigate the crimes being committed at Thacker Pass against Native American tribes. Click here: protect Thacker Pass today!

Our support for this struggle is driven by Extinction Rebellion’s 4th Demand for social justice and Indigenous sovereignty.
