Oregon Rising* is working with the International Migrants Alliance, the Portland Immigrant Rights Coalition and others to organize a migrant defense rally and Portland caravan to the Tacoma Ice center on Labor Day (Sept 1st). This event will include a press conference to kick-off Oregon Rising.

This is the first Oregon Rising event and is focused on defending our immigrant friends, family members and neighbors and challenging the unconstitutional, illegal and cruel actions taken against them. Getting a huge crowd to the rally is important as is getting folks on busses and into carpools to join us in Tacoma.

If you have friends or family who might be interested, talk to them! If you are part of a member organization, you can spread the word and bring your organization’s people power to join in the action on Labor Day!  We’re hoping to fill two free busses with 100 seats!

* Oregon Rising is building a strategic alliance between labor unions and community organizations (e.g. immigrant rights, climate and housing justice). Our goal is to improve the lives of the working class by taking back power and wealth that has been extracted from our communities. We do this through deep member engagement, popular education, bargaining for the common good, naming the corporate bad actors and taking direct action together.  Come learn more about us on Labor Day!
