SUN DAY is a national day of action that will celebrate the sun power revolution and stand up to the wealthy and well-connected who are doing everything they can to stop the clean energy transition. 

We’ll harness the power of people, culture and advocacy to defend the progress we have made to transition to renewable energy and demand policymakers do everything they can to accelerate the deployment of clean energy. We’ll build, march and rally in communities across the country to demand the investment and policies we need to get solar and wind projects built.

• Solar and wind power are no longer “alternative” energy – they’re now the most reliable, practical choice for powering our future, and the fastest growing energy sources in the world.
• Instead of letting fossil fuel interests control the narrative, we will make Sun Day the story of America: people coming together in communities across the country to celebrate clean energy solutions that have been creating more jobs, more stable sources of energy for our homes, and has stabilized our economy. We’ll demand action to support (not deny) and reinstate the benefits of the Inflation Reduction Act.
• Alongside local organizers, partners, and leaders from across the climate, environmental justice, and clean energy movements, we will demonstrate organized people power that can accelerate the transition to a clean energy future.

WHY WE’RE MOBILIZING IN OREGON

Our purpose for hosting  Sun Day events in Oregon on September 21st is to come together to support the Sun Power Revolution, and around our shared value of Oregon’s natural beauty and outdoor recreational opportunities. Through that shared appreciation, we will:

• raise broader public awareness about the affordable clean energy solutions available now, and the need for a more rapid transition to clean energy which has proven to provide more jobs and a more stable economy
• demonstrate growing support for a more safe and equitable energy future for all Oregonians

How will we achieve our purpose through Sun Day events?

We Will Inform:  Raise public awareness about the Solar Power Revolution and the benefits of clean energy, and promote actions all Oregonians can take to decrease our reliance on fossil fuels.   

We Will Engage:  Involve Oregonians in diverse activities (learning, creating, advocacy, showing support) motivated by our shared pride in our beautiful state and recreational areas.  
We will Inspire:  Spark excitement across a broad demographic of Oregonians, in order to promote personal and policy changes that result in a more rapid transition to renewable energy.
