Extinction Rebellion in Portland, Oregon – XRPDX – is a local chapter in the international Extinction Rebellion movement and one of 60 groups in XR US.

XRPDX organizes people in the Portland, Oregon Metro area:

By taking action (online and in person) to resist fossil fuel infrastructure, educate the broader public about the climate emergency, and support our allies in social justice struggles
By spreading the word: a weekly newsletter; a website and blog; and social media (Facebook and Instagram)

We are building a supportive activist culture of appreciation and skill-sharing. We share a love of the natural world and a vision of a more just and equitable world.

Portland is in the process of updating its policy regarding the Critical Energy Infrastructure (CEI) Hub, a six mile stretch of tanks that store 90% of the liquid fuel that supplies the state of Oregon and is located on the Willamette River in a liquefaction zone making all of us in the region vulnerable to an unthinkable disaster.

When: December 16, 2025
Rally: 3 PM
In-person public hearing: 4 - 8 PM
Where: 1900 SW Fourth Avenue ("the "1900 building")
Portland, OR
Pre-registration is required for oral testimony. Sign up to testify by 5 pm on December 15th
 It is a hybrid meeting.
 You can provide testimony, if you are registered
 Anyone can attend in person and observe the proceedings or view via the hearing the Planning Commission’s You Tube page -- no registration is required if only attending or watching.
