Earth Day is for everybody! Come one and all, and let’s celebrate the beauty of our only home, Earth! Our wonderful planet provides all that we need. Through celebration and gratitude we remember our deep connection and relationship with the Earth. We will parade and we will sing and we want the city of Portland to join us!
Earth Day 2025 is a free, family-friendly event, with activities accessible to all ages and abilities to celebrate nature, and work toward a greener future for all!
11:00 AM – Gather and Create
The day kicks off in the Sunnyside Schoolyard with a variety of exciting activities for all ages. Attendees create their own costume accessories at our mask-making and face-painting stations, gather information on local environmental initiatives, and collect seeds to plant in their own or community gardens. Includes music and games. Guests are encouraged to dress up in nature-inspired costumes – and Best Costume Awards will be given out! – Sunnyside School Yard – SE 35th & Taylor
12:30 PM – Earth Parade
Everyone joins the fun as we parade through the Sunnyside Neighborhood in celebration of Mother Earth. Participants will march along a one-mile route, showcasing their costumes and joined by colorful giant puppets, live marching bands, music, and dancing. This family-friendly procession is open to everyone – costumed or not – to share in the joy of connecting over our care for the planet!
7:00 PM – Earth Ceremony
We end the day with a secular, inspiring Earth Ceremony at The Groves Church. This intimate community gathering will include rituals and songs to honor our beloved planet. It’s a chance to reflect on our deep connection to Earth and renew our commitment to protecting the environment. Following the ceremony, everyone is invited to a cake potluck reception with tea, to relax, reflect, and mingle as a community. – 3520 SE Yamhill St.
